In Madison, Wisconsin  I sometimes offer classes in my home. These range from short 2-hour classes to all day mini-retreats. Not only do I have a Bachelors of Science in Education and a Bachelors of Art in Textile Design but I taught quilting classes for the adult education department of the local technical college for 15 years. If you take a class from me it will be well organized, informative and fun.

SWISS FINISHING SCHOOL

Swiss Finishing School is so called because it is held at a wonderful Chalet Landhaus in a town in Wisconsin known as "Little Switzerland". This retreat is not about starting a new quilt but about having the time and resources to finish the ones already started.

Since I made my first quilt 32 years ago, I have learned many things about quiltmaking. The hardest lesson to learn was, even using quick quilting methods, it takes a long time to make a quilt. Many great quilts remain unfinished because people don't set aside enough time to finish them.

At Swiss Finishing School I don't teach you a new quilt pattern. But that doesn't mean I don't teach!!! You bring your own quilting projects and I provide any help you might need. I bring my laptop computer, which has all my quilting handouts loaded on it, and a printer. These handouts were developed over a 15 year period of teaching quiltmaking for the adult education program of the local technical college. I show you whatever technique you need at your sewing machine then I print out a clear and concise handout for you to refer to later.  If it is a design problem you are having, I have an art degree, 32 years of quiltmaking experience and EQ5, a quilt designing program loaded on my laptop.

So at Swiss Finishing School, you bring what ever projects you'd like to finish, and I help you remember what you were doing, plan where you are going and help you understand what you need to do to get this quilt finished. Other things you will do at Swiss Finishing School are make new friends, eat, shop, use the pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room and gym.
